So I don't actually really eat all that healthy, or I didn't use to, anyways. I've been an athlete for most of my life (gymnastics and soccer as a kid, then martial arts since high school) so I've gotten rather spoiled on the work-out-then-eat-whatever diet.
What this ends up meaning, or looking like, is that I'm thin and muscular, but I probably have the heart of an 80 year old man, given that I adore cheese, butter, salt, and cream above all else, I love red meat, and I eat lots and lots of crappy, over-produced, badly flavored foods.
I'm trying to change this.
During the summertime especially, I really pick up my eating habits because if I eat crappy food in the hot summer heat I am not a happy camper. And we all know what happens when you piss off a Gemini.
So during the summer I eat lots of salads, fresh fruits and veggies, and drink quite a bit of water, since I'm thirsty and I don't drink caffeine very often to begin with. And salads and water can get...kind of boring. And honestly, there's only so many times I can justify eating a steak and taco salad before my friends start yelling that did I know the salad I'm eating is 8000 calories, and did I know I'm not Michael Phelps? And do I want to die before they can use me as a babysitter for their kids?
But I haaaate boring food...
Thank God for this guy, and this article. 101 Salad Recipes, None of Which Suck. (I added that last part of the title.)
YUM...
(#44 is my favorite. Healthy? Sort of... tasty? Yes, yes, and more yes!)

I'm totally into salads! and steak...and burgers....and gummi bears...LOL ....hmmm I love being healthy...but I love moderation :)
You don't have to eat salads to be healthy. Check out the diabetes diet - it allows you to eat every couple of hours and you never feel hungry.
I'm on it right now for my pregnancy and it's not too bad. You can have a hamburger or a piece of pizza - you just have to count carbs instead of calories, which isn't too difficult.
You also don't want to skip out on red meat (burgers, steaks, etc.), especially since you are so thin. I developed anemia because of my aversion to meat while preggers (I like it normally) and have reintroduced it into my diet. If you have questions about the diabetes diet, let me know!
I should clarify...I'm certainly not advocating ONLY eating salads... a balanced diet of fruits, veggies, meat, carbs, and desserts is always called for...
I was just pointing out that these salads don't suck in the taste department. If you click on the link and read the recipes, the salads are organized by vegan, vegetarian, salads with meat, and salads using grains. There's something there for everyone...and Stace, take care of that kid so I can babysit her one day.
It helps me to occasionally hit up this is why you're fat because that food is so terrifyingly unhealthy that it motivates me to stay on the clean path!
lol in horror! I've never heard of that website, Shanna...oh good GOD some of those photos!!
Hmmm!! Thank you for sharing :) I'm afraid to look at Shanna's link.

I agree, salads can get old - fast, so this site looks perfect! I am off to go check it out!
perfect timing since I am writing an article on salads! thanks!
I also second Quinns comment!
Mark Bittman is the bomo. you should regularly check out this column because he always has yummy, easy and pretty healthy recipes. He writes a food column for the NY times.
I met da bomb! no bomo. i suck at typing.
This has to be one of the hardest things for me to do. I'm trying to eat healthier but it is certainly an uphill battle. Thanks for sharing the link.
