keep the change...

So I have a love/hate affair with change. But come September and October, those parts of me that grew up under New England trees with bright red and orange foliage drooping down on me every autumn wake up again and I yearn to have a good authentic Fall season. Alas, I live in SoCal. But we Californians do get all bristly if Imported people claim there are no seasons to Southern California, because there are, and we get defensive if people whine that the leaves don't change color here, because they do. I have photographic proof:

Ta-da. Anyways, so here I am, mid-September, dreaming of cozy blankets and hot chocolate and seeing fourteen year old girls on the street wearing Ugg boots with mini-skirts...wait, scratch that last one. But I love cuddly cold weather and going raspberry picking this weekend sort of planted this itch in me to have autumn just show up already, dammit. and I'm not the most patient person so I'm kind of just...waiting. Waiting for the change, for my breathing to slow down just a bit, for an excuse to wear my new alpaca wool fingerless gloves, for the air-conditioner to stop kicking on at night, for my cat to burrow against my warm stomach at four in the morning and for me to see my breath hang in the evening air when I go for walks.

I'm ready for change. Bring it.

hahaha I always like to tell non-Californians that we have two seasons -- summer and that kinda-cold period between summers. =P

But I do have to agree with you about the cozy blankets and hot chocolate. I'm looking forward to rocking the cute ankle boots I purchased in spring (just before it got too hot to wear them T_T) with some long skirts. Basically, the anti-Ugg (which I totally also loathe, so it's just one more thing we have in common!)

Not only do the leaves change here, but snow happens once in a millenium when hell freezes over! Now, Hawaii...that is a place with no seasons. I am with you 100% Pheonix. Sick of this heat and heavy air. Bring the cleanse, bring the crisp.

So funny, the first thing I thought when I saw the post of the title was keep the change, as in keep the coins, lol. Silly me.

Anyway, my life directly under the equator could use some change of weather. I've had enough of the hot sun 24/7, 365 days of the year. I wish this country had 4 seasons.

We are the same way in Hawaii. People don't know it but we do have seasons and when you live here you can really tell. Beautiful photo!

Change is scary sometimes, but in the end, after kicking and screaming, I embrace it.

Oooh I am so excited that it's snuggle season. Hot chocolate and blankets are my friends!

PS, you won the Peacock Giveaway! Can you please email your address to me at spotty_zebra@hotmail.com ? Thanks!
